Problem
Diesel flows out of the pump and onto the timing belt. It is difficult to see, but there is a strong diesel
smell on the right side of the car. It also gets suspiciously clean on the underside.
The diesel can damage the lower engine mount.
Get at least TWO new sim rings, just in case you break the first one you put in (because you tap it too far in).

Replacing the simmer ring
- Loosen the wheel bolts on the right front wheel.
- Jack up the car on the right side at the front and put it on jack stands.
- Remove the wheel.
- Unscrew the rubber cover.
- Unscrew the plastic cover (keep track of where the screws belong).
Now you can see the timing belt and the drive belt for the diesel pump.
- Make a clear mark on the wheel attached to the diesel pump and by the wheel somewhere,
so that you can put the belt back on in exactly the same position (important!).
- Loosen the tensioner, push it together and tighten.
- Remove the diesel pump belt.
- Remove the wheel that is on the pump. NB! Be CAREFUL when removing this wheel or you will
damage the pump! The wheel must be pulled straight out with counter pressure on the axle.
(You should preferably use the dedicated trigger.)
- If there is a plastic cover: remove it.
- Insert a thin screwdriver through the old ring and gently bend it out.
- Apply a thin layer of grease to the new simmer ring and tap it CAREFULLY into
place: Be careful not to get it too far in!!!
- Put on the plastic cover (if you have it).
- Mount the wheel on the pump.
- Put on the drive belt.
- Loosen the tension pulley so that it tightens the belt and lock it.
- Check that the wheel on the pump is in the correct position.
- Screw on the plastic cover.
- Screw on the rubber cover.
- Put the front wheel back on.

The original puller.
Perhaps you can make your own puller from a strong metal hoop with a nut welded on.
