Timing belt

Replace the timing belt and drive belt of the diesel pump every 80,000 km, or every 4 years (whichever comes first).

Check every 20,000 km.

Replace tension rollers if necessary.
(Buy belts and tension rollers as a set.)

The timing belt breaks

If the timing belt breaks, the engine stops and you cannot start again.

You must then put on a new timing belt and belt for the diesel pump, and take out the push rods and straighten the bent ones. Hopefully the valves will not have been damaged.
