Instrument console
To take out the instrument console can be very difficult the first time you try.
The most important thing is to deal with the speedometer cable the right way, and take your time.

|
Make sure all the bulbs are working. Search until you find them all.

- Unscrew the two screws on the underside (one on each side).
- Unscrew two screws at the top in the middle, and two at the top all the way out at the edges.
- remove the top cover.
- Unhook the two metal hooks.
- Unplug the three flat lugs and the other contacts.
- Use a mirror and a flat head screw driver and push the speedometer cable (the light blue thing)
completely off the yellow gray end that it sits on. Pry a bit at it with a finger so that it does not get stuck at the edge.
- Push the console a little bit toward the windshield and lift it carefully out.

|
Use mirror and screw driver to tilt off the speedometer cable.

|
- Make sure the two rubber pads are located where they should be (so they
get under the "feet" on the instrument console).
- Twist all the contacts towards the windshield.
- Put the console gently into place.
- Use a mirror and a flat head screw driver and pry the speedometer cable into the yellow gray tab,
and twist and pry till it pops all the way in.
- Squeeze the console gently in place so that the warning lamps are getting into the right places.
- Connect the three flat lugs and the other contacts.
- Turn on the ignition and make sure that all the lights and features work.
- Put on the two metal hooks.
- Add some small foam plastic bits, so you get no rattle.
- Put on the top cover.
