Problem

Air from the engine bay is getting into the passenger compartment.

This may be caused by the foam under the bonnet is rotten/broken so that the rubber gasket on the intake tower does not seal properly. Especially when the cooling fan/fans are running, it can then be pushed air through here.

  1. Scrape off all the old foam.
  2. Create a template out of thin cardboard: Take 4 approx 4cm wide strips that you attach under the hood with tape. Remove the template and reinforce the corners with more tape.
  3. Use the template and cut out the foam in one piece. The foam should be gray or black.
  4. Put double sided tape on the foam.
  5. Install the foam. Or place the foam exactly on top of the rubber seal and put the bonnet gently down.
