Three small storage rooms

(not really on the center console, but slightly above)

Two of the rooms are for small things, the center one is designed to accommodate coins.

Knock gently with your fingertips at the lower part of the lids to open. Do not let the lids pop up, but hold them back with your fingers so that they open quietly. Then the hinges will last longer.

The hinges for the lids tend to break. To repair these is difficult, it is easiest to replace the entire box if you are lucky enough to come across one that is intact.

Use a flathead screwdriver, put a narrow ruler, etc. behind, and gently tilt up, first on one side and then the other.
