You can make an opening in the rear seat for transporting skis etc. It is then advisable that the skis
protrude into the passenger compartment in a waterproof bag, so you don't get ski vax and other filth on the seats.
The bag must be so solid and so well secured, that it holds the skis in a sudden stop or collision.
You can also cut out almost the entire metal part behind the rear seat and hinge it down so that
it can be laid down on the floor of the luggage compartment.
You then weld a frame around the opening so that the car will be as stiff as before
and the hinged back protects as well against heavy objects as before.
