DIESEL ENGINE
Norsk

• The price may vary throughout the week. Fill up when the fuel has the lowest price.

• Ask if the station has discount schemes.

• If you pass several petrol stations during the period when the car starts to get thirsty, you can fill up the tank at the cheapest one. You can quickly save NOK 20 - 50 on that. And if you fill the tank once a week, and in this way save NOK 30 each time, that is an annual saving of NOK. 1,560. (Then if you buy a "new" CX for NOK 15,000 every ten years, you have a free car;)

Refueling

You should always wear plastic or vinyl gloves when refueling. (And here you have a comprehensive guide;)

  1. Get out and lock the car.
  2. Find a glove (hangs on the pumps, if not you can find one in the car or in your jacket pocket).
  3. Unlock the fuel cap and leave the keys hanging from it. (If you do not have a central lock on the tank lid.)
  4. Put the glove on your right hand (or left hand if you think that's better;)
  5. Unscrew the cap and place it on the pump.
  6. Fill DIESEL (not petrol).
  7. Avoid breathing the vapor coming from the tank.
  8. When the tank is full: Take the pump handle almost out, let the spout drip well (so you don't spill diesel on the paintwork) and then hang it in place.
  9. Screw on the lid.
  10. Remove the glove and dispose of it in a suitable place.
  11. Lock the fuel cap and put the keys in your pocket.
  12. Make a note of the number of the pump and the amount, then go in and pay (with cash of course). (And because you drive CX, you naturally have to be calm and polite, and maybe a little bit superior;)

If you have a central lock on the fuel cap, you must of course wait to lock the car until you have finished refueling. If you have problems with the lid lock, you can access it from the boot.

• You should refill the tank as soon as it is less than half, then there is less risk of getting "diesel animals" in it. And you have less risk of running out of diesel.

• If you are on a trip in winter and will spend the night in a terribly cold place, it is a good idea to fill the tank before nightfall.

• Always keep a couple of these in the car; then you can quickly and efficiently defrost the lock if it has frozen.
