Replacement

The diesel filter

How often you should change the filter depends on how far you drive a year. But maybe every other year would be appropriate.

  1. Loosen the two screws holding the filter holder and lift up.
  2. Put under something that can collect diesel spills.
  3. Split the filter holder and remove the old filter.
  4. Clean and check that the drain hole is not blocked.
  5. Check the old gaskets, replace them with new ones if necessary.
  6. Insert the new filter and install.
  7. Put the filter holder back in its place.
  8. Open the vent screw facing the torpedo wall and pump until diesel comes out without air bubbles. (Transparent hose up into a small container.)
  9. Tighten the bleed screw.
  10. Rinse away any spillage.

Avoid getting diesel on your hands: wear gloves.

Drainage

Water and dirt collect at the bottom of the filter holder, and should be drained from time to time. Preferably every time you change the oil.

  1. Loosen the two bolts holding the filter holder and lift the filter up.
  2. Open the drain screw at the bottom. (Transparent hose up into a small container.)
  3. Open the bleed screw facing the torpedo wall. Now water/diesel will flow out.
  4. Close the bleed screw facing the torpedo wall and then the one at the bottom.
  5. Put the filter holder back in its place.
  6. Open the bleed screw facing the torpedo wall and pump until diesel comes out without air bubbles. (Transparent hose up into a small container.)
  7. Tighten the bleed screw.
  8. Rinse away any spillage.

If you cannot drain, the drainage hole is clogged with sand: Disassemble the filter holder and clean it.
