Still very slippery ... and there are three kilometres of steep, narrow and winding road up to the mountain valley where I live.
I had to put on snow-chains yet again, and to prevent the CX travelling backwards I had to squeeze the rear end into the side of the road.
Maybe not a very beautiful picture to present on Christmas Eve, but still: Merry Christmas!

Slippery...
After almost managing to drive up a long steep hill, the CX began
slipping backwards (right then I regretted a little bit not taking the C6...)
and eventually ended up with one of the front wheels down the ditch.
When I stepped out, I had to hold onto the car so as not to slip further down on my shoes.
But, with a little Ice-Crust under the front wheel standing on the ice and the CX in the terrain position I could
back into the road again, only to further down end up in the ditch two more times!
Finally, I got the CX on flat ground and could put on the snow-chains.

Does not look very good at the rear; must soon put back the wheel
covers and the correct bumper...

Well — then the CX has got a "new" rear frame, a "new" top, and a "new" rear silencer...
...but, every time I fix one problem, it seems like I get 2-3 new ones...

Finally the old rusted rear frame is removed from the car. Tiring job!
The 28 rivets that attach it to the middle frame is of much too high quality.

«THERE'S A FIRE IN THE GARAGE!!»
Fire? No, it is smoke signals: «Heeelp, I need a new top!»

THE REAR FRAME
The rear frame on the spare car was fortunately in good condition. And easy to dismantle, as the car is upside down.

Not nice to meet such vehicles; the jerk probably was sitting with his nose tip down into a Smartphone...
And yes, he got to hear the beautiful sound from four CX-horns...

CX2-TRANSPORT
A CX can be transported in several ways.

No problem with deer standing still. Worse with those who jumps into the road right in front of you.
(Don't look at this video for too long, because then you're going to get carsick.

Can you see the biker? No? No wonder, the fool had neither lights or reflexes.
You recognize him only as a black shadow passing by on the left side towards the end of the video.

I tried with summer wheels again today, and it works fine as long as you take it easy on flat road and go slowly downhill.
But if you are careless you might "park" the car like him here.
Under such conditions ABS is some BIG nonsense, because you NEVER stop, you just slide along with vibrating brake pedal.
With locked wheels slush would pile up in front of the wheels and the tires would touch the asphalt, creating friction.
And by pumping the brake pedal you would still have control. (Yes, I have tried this, my CX has no ABS.)

Today it is May 2, and not only is it still winter; we've also got a blizzard...

STILL WINTER
I woke up this morning from the sound of snow falling from the roof, and not long afterwards the snow tractor came.
When I looked out the kitchen window I saw a C6 in 10-15 cm wet snow,
and rather skeptical it seemd to be, standing there on its 25 cm wide summer tires.
But in the garage I found a CX in hibernation, and after a rather heavy
awakening it was eagerly as just that. For it had studded snow tires.

INCONSISTENT DRIVING
This morning I passed a tractor that used a bit much of the road.
And not many minutes afterwards I met a car that was somewhat unsteady;
it had both left wheels on the wrong side of the median strip.
I wonder, what happened when these two met...

Lots of rain; snow melting; blocked culverts...
With eough water on the road maybe your car will think it is a boat...

TO THE RIGHT?
Many cars are driving around with only one functioning headlight nowadays,
since you have to visit a garage to replace the bulb on most newer cars.
And this morning I also saw a bus with lights only on one side.
Fair enough, but only one minute later I again met a bus, also this one with lights only on the right hand side!
There are elections to come later this year; I wonder if the bus-company here is trying to convey a message to us?

DETOUR
When I was going home last night, I again saw blue lights;
and don't you think it was in exactly the same place as
this
took place! But now it was for real, a house was on fire, so I had to turn around,
and got a suggestion to drive after a narrow tractor track on the other side of the river.
Not designed for cars, but it went reasonably well...
...until I met a horse-drawn carriage.
The driver at first didn't like much that I was driving on his private road,
but softened quickly when he heard the reason.
And then we sort of managed to get past past each other on the narrow forest road.

NARROW ROADS
Occasionally one will try to drive extra close to the right side of the road.
For there are probably not much deformation zones in such a vehicle.

FROZEN TANK LID
When I was going to refuel last night, the tank lid was frozen.
But no problem; I had brought with me my hot buddies...
...and this morning, as usual, they had to be boiled to get back in shape.
