SLIPPERY ROADS
One more has ended up in the ditch; the roads are slippery.
I am driving with yellow bulbs, but they provide low light now in the dark and rain.
Guess I have to change to normal bulbs, maybe then the videos will get a little brighter as well.

SLIPPERY
Up from where I live, there is a fairly steep hill. To get up there in the winter, I cannot drive too slowly.
Today I probably drove a bit too fast.

WINTER
Suddenly the winter arrived.
That I understood already at half past three last night, when I was awakened by the snow tractor.
And happy I was — that it was not I who had to be up so early.

BLUE LIGHTS
Before going home last night, I reviewed – as always – if it would be necessary with a visit to the lavatory first.
Just to be on the safe side. But then I thought: It is only a forty-minute drive.
BUT halfway I saw a sea of blue lights! And thought that now I'll be sitting here waiting for hours!
It was of course not what I should be thinking; I should think: Oops, now somebody has been injured here!
It proved to be only a rehersal, so I was allowed to continue at once.
Such is educational; from now on I'll probably visit the lavatory before the drive, whether it is needed or not.

IN THE DITCH
It is autumn with occasionally slippery roads.
Drive carefully!

DOUBLE BED
To make room for a double bed in a CX?
No problem.

STRUGGLE
So then I had to take out the rear seats again. Because often bulky items are to be transported; this time a double bed.
There's a lot of struggle with these seats; maybe I should mount the original back seats again?

First I saw a sign that warned oil spills. Next a warning triangle and a car that was lying on the roof.
Then I thought that maybe it was okay to slow down the pace a bit...
(The two people in the car were fortunately not injured.)

Acute
We (or rather my brother) had to weld on the CX last night; where you see the red dots it had split in two due to rust.
I noticed it on the fact that there came a powerful slam when I ran across holes.
Nice to be independent of garages.

I was so distracted by the first car that came with full beams, that I almost didn't notice that there was a passing ... scary!
Time and again, I have told myself not to look into the lights of oncoming cars, but...

PEDESTRIANS
Suddenly, they just were there; appearing from nowhere.
A good thing they didn't come from the other side of the road.
In the mirror I saw the first one standing on the median strip shooking its head;
was probably reasonably confused.

BAD LOADING
Him here hadn't secured his cargo very much ...
But he was at least clever to run.

Deadly foreigner
Got stuck behind a foreign tourist yesterday; he kept a reasonable speed, and managed to keep himself on the right side of the road...
...apart from the five to six times he ended up in the oncoming lane...

Hmm...?
We are very much bothered with motor homes here in the summer;
they run slowly and are generally unable to keep themselves on the rigt side of the road.
Yes it is almost better to meet a truck than a recreational vehicle.
So today when I spotted two campers who had got a bit close to each other,
I almost had to smile a little...

What...?
It was rather cold this morning, when I around a bend spotted something that looked like a car.
But then it became somewhat weird.
And so I finally understood that it was a motorcycle.
But it was so wide that he could just as well have used a car, and been sitting there warm and dry.

HIGH SPEED
This one really was in a hurry ... he almost made me jump...
But he was at least good at staying on the right side of the road.

DEER?
Last night two beautiful deer popped across the road in front of the CX, and I was thinking; that I did not manage to film this!
So today I put up a camera, and yes — something did pop over the road in front of the CX today as well; look
here.
(And yes — I had to use the brakes a little bit...)

This is how it looked this morning... and
not many days ago we had fourteen degrees below zero (Celsius)...
...but now I have switched to the summer
tires... so let it come as much snow as it will, I'll drive anyway.

STILL WINTER
Don't you think that I had to sweep snow
off the CX today as well; not really spring yet, it seems. But if it's bad weather, you can still get nice
pictures.
BUT have you seen: The panorama program has made two windscreen wipers on the CX!

RESPIRATORY PROBLEM
The CX has not received enough air.
Therefore, there have come a lot of brown-black smoke from the back end of the car when I have trodden the accelerator.
And it has barely managed to drag itself up the slopes.
I've been hearing from people around me, that THAT engine is finished! Scrap the whole thing! Ouch!
However I have been thinking that the engine has only gone three-four hundred thousand
kilometers and that is nothing for a Citroën diesel.
And the solution was ridiculously simple: The air filter was clogged!
Had thought about that, but it looked just fine and was not so old, so...
While waiting for the new filter, I have operated in a bit of new filter (vacuum cleaner bag;) in the old, so now the CX goes like a shot.

TROUBLE TANKING GASOLINE
The CX is not completely healthy at the moment. It comes a lot of brown-black smoke from the exhaust when driving uphill.
So I've had to loan a car. A small Japanese.
Since the tank needle was reaching below zero today, I found that it was perhaps a good idea to visit a gas station.
Just to be on the safe side.
It was one free space beside the pumps, but so that I had to turn around and reverse myself into place.
I so did and then discovered that the fuel tank cap was on the wrong side of the car!
Off I go and turn around again, but now it had of course come another one and taken the place.
But then there was an empty space on the other end of the pumps, so drive around the whole place and finally!
Only to discover that I had managed to drive me up to the pumps with the wrong side again! Grrr...

"CX SHEARING"
This morning it was again time to start excavating the CX from this white stuff that constantly falls down from above.
As I swept it of the car, I came to think of of all things sheep shearing!
(I have not been doing this myself, but I have seen it being done.)
For when one is finished it seems to be so little left of the sheep
(and the same with the CX; click on the picture and you will see what I mean).

VERY COLD
It was freezing cold this morning, almost as the eyelids froze the brief moment I was outside to start the interior heater in the CX.
Yes, just the interior heater, the engine heater has given up and it is impossible to get a replacement.
So therefore, I was wondering if it would start.
Long glowing, turned the key and it started on the first try, but only with half the engine, it sounded like.
But after a while it started humming with splendid sound. Not bad, with a 27 year old diesel engine, tiny 20 year old battery
(Optima), 20 degrees below zero (Celsius) and no engine heater.

POOR VISIBILITY
Today it was THAT day: The snow was pouring down, and on my way to work I three times had to get out and scrape ice off the front screen wiper,
and finally it ended up on the hood! And the wrenches were left at home!
After frantically searching through a bag I always keep in the car, I found two wrenches in a side pocket! And one was 13mm!
So now; walk out to your CX and tighten the nut on the wiper, so you don't end up in the same mess as me.
