Problem

Poor or no suspension in the front.

Control

Grasp the corner of the bumper and lift up. You should now without too much effort be able to lift the front 20-25cm. (Or get your neighbor to do it, so you don't damage your back ..;)
Repeat on the other side.

Replacing the suspension spheres in the front

Kule Kule
  • Start the car and wait until it has got on it's feet. Turn off the engine.
  • Loosen the two screws that hold the fuel filter, unwind the wires, lift up the widget and place it gently over to the spare wheel.
  • Loosen the spheres a few cm with an oil filter pliers. [Instead, you can knock a small notch in the spheres with a hammer and chisel, set the chisel in the notch and knock till the sphere has turned up 1-2cm. BUT - remember that the spheres contains gas under pressure, if they crack it will be catastrophic!]
  • Lower the car to the bottom position.
  • Feel if the spheres are loose (or more correctly where they are attached), they should be able to be rugged a bit back and forth. If they sit tight, you can take a garage jack under the front of the car and hoist it up slightly. Then they should loosen.
  • Unscrew the spheres with your hands. Use rubber gloves for better grip.
  • Remove the old gaskets, put LHM on the new, and press them firmly in place (not on the spheres, but where the spheres shall be screwed in place).
  • Apply a thin layer of grease on the contact surfaces of the spheres and screw them in place. Tighten as much as you can only with your hands, do not use any tools.
  • Replace the fuel filter and connect the wires.

Difficult?

No, this is relatively easy. But problems can arise if some imbecile has fastened the old spheres with pliers...

NB! Remember eye protection!
