If you don't want the glow plugs to switch on

When you turn on the ignition you also turn on the glow plugs. If you do not want to start the engine, you have to turn the key a little bit counterclockwise till the glowplug indicator light goes off. Then the ignition switch will still be on, without having the glowplugs on unnecessarily.
